The IÖB Service Centre (Initiative for Promoting Innovation in Public Procurement) launched a challenge to identify innovative and sustainable cleaning solutions for public facilities such as schools, universities, and police stations. The aim of the initiative was to make everyday cleaning in public buildings more ecological, safer, and more efficient.

The focus was on solutions that:

  • relieve the workload of cleaning staff,

  • enable simple and safe dosing,

  • promote the use of sustainable components,

  • significantly reduce resource consumption

We submitted two sustainable products: Novaline, based on bio-based surfactants, and Granuline, a pre-dosed granulate cleaner.

Awarded among the top 6

Out of twelve submitted product ranges, Novaline and Granuline were selected as two of the six winning solutions. The jury was particularly impressed by the clear sustainability focus of both product systems. As part of the selection process, we were invited to give a presentation highlighting the key strengths of Novaline and Granuline.

The Novaline presentation focused on sustainably sourced raw materials (bio-surfactants), a simple foaming process, and strong cleaning performance. Thanks to the ingredients used and the resource-saving dosing system, the product enables effective application – delivering clear benefits for both the environment and users.

During the subsequent discussion, the product impressed with its combination of various sustainability aspects – from environmentally friendly raw materials and social responsibility.

The patented Granuline also impressed: the pre-dosed granules dissolve within seconds upon contact with water, allowing for precise and clean dosing, while their lightweight, easy-to-handle sachets eliminate the need to carry heavy, bulky containers. The products are free from solvents and preservatives. Combined with the manual foam cleaning method, they minimise the use of chemicals and enable water savings of up to 90%. In addition, the reduction in packaging weight by around 90% compared to canisters makes a significant contribution to resource conservation.

A strong signal to the industry

The nominations of Novaline and Granuline as part of the IÖB Challenge send a strong message: sustainability and cleaning performance are not mutually exclusive – quite the opposite. Today, choosing environmentally friendly solutions not only improves one’s ecological footprint but actively shapes the future of professional cleaning.
